Version 4 · effective 2026-10-01
AniNet Terms of Use
These terms are between you and Parker Forman, doing business as AniNet, and its successors and assigns ("AniNet"). By using AniNet you agree to them on behalf of yourself and your organization.
Your data
Images and other files you upload stay yours. You confirm you have the right to upload them, including any permits covering the imagery and the wildlife in it. You can export your annotations at any time.
A fair exchange
AniNet gets better every time someone annotates, and that improvement is shared with every team that uses it. Here is the deal that makes that work.
What you get: annotation tools, automatic outlines, and models that keep improving, partly thanks to the work of every other team on AniNet.
What we ask: permission to learn from your annotations.
- You still own your work. Your images and annotations stay yours, and you can export them at any time.
- You let AniNet learn from it. You allow AniNet to use your annotations, and the images they are drawn on, to train and test AniNet's models. This permission is free, does not stop you using your data any way you like, and continues if you leave, because a trained model cannot unlearn what it has seen.
- Your images stay private. We never publish, sell or show your images to other organizations or outside parties. What gets shared is the improved model, which does not contain your images.
- You stay in control of sensitive sites. You can exclude any project, such as nesting sites of protected species, and on paid plans you can switch sharing off entirely.
- What we keep if you leave. If you delete a project or close your account, your images and annotations are removed from your account. Copies of annotations and image tiles already added to AniNet's training data, with location, camera and date details removed, may be kept to train and test AniNet's models. Projects marked sensitive, and organizations with sharing switched off, are never added to training data.
AniNet's models and platform
AniNet's software, models, model weights, species library and annotation tools belong to AniNet.
- Using the platform: you can run AniNet's models on your data through the platform and export all of your annotations and results. Using the platform does not give you a copy of any model or its weights.
- Custom models: when you pay AniNet to build a model for you, you receive that custom model, including its weights, on the terms set out in a separate written agreement for that work.
No copying or competing
You will not use AniNet, its model outputs, its tools or anything you learn from access to them to build, train or offer a product or service that competes with AniNet. You will not copy its features, design or workflows, try to extract its models, reverse engineer it, or collect model outputs in bulk to train other models.
Accounts
Keep your password private and don't share your account. AniNet may suspend accounts that break these terms.
No guarantee
AniNet is provided as is. Model results can be wrong; review them before relying on them. AniNet is not liable for more than what you paid in the last 12 months.
Changes
AniNet may update these terms and will ask you to accept the new version before you continue.
